Laura’s Warrior Journey

My Journey began in February of 2009. Looking back there are some things that are perfectly clear, and then there are some that I just can not seem to remember.  I wrote in journal to help me remember, because with everything going on it is easy to forget. 

I found out that I had cancer while I was driving to pick up my son at his Elementary School. The first thought in my head was how do I explain this to my son, and family. Then it was like what do I do, what happens now. The sad thing is there is really no one there that can answer that question for you. 

The next several months and years were just one medical appointment after another. The one thing I remember was that my mind never stopped racing, what was I going to do, where was the money from, does my son understand, its my fault we can’t do anything as a family. 

No one was there to explain that all that was normal. We were lucky to have very generous people that provided support to my family, so we could still do things together. That is why we started this charity, to be able to provide for others what was provided to us. To give each Warrior the ability to continue living their best life, even in the throngs of the battle. To know that you are not alone and that we are all working together, fighting these battles and remembering to live.
