Hello,

I met Chris from Warrior In Me through my son in law (AJ) at a flag football game. AJ was asking Chris for a referral for me and Chris mentioned that he and his wife had just gotten Warrior In Me up and running and their goal was to offer experiences for people with cancer.

It seemed like the small group of people around us liked the idea but were unsure that people would accept. I was going through chemo for breast cancer and recovering from a broken leg and getting ready for radiation treatments at the time. I thought about it for a minute and told him I thought it was a great idea and offer. You get so tired and feel so isolated, that going somewhere-anywhere-sounded quite lovely; especially free! Money feels tight even if it really isn’t-hard to explain. Anyway, I filled out the info on the website and was granted an experience.

My husband (a recent stroke survivor) and I went to our favorite beach (New Smyrna) for 2 nights in an OCEANFRONT room at the Marriott’s Springhill Suites-breakfast, taxes, parking included, and A VISA giftcard for other meals).

It’s at the edge of town, so we could walk anywhere we wanted (we did some walking and some driving because of my leg and stamina). It was a little chilly for the beach, but we tried out restaurants we had never been to and we truly enjoyed sitting on our balcony and breathing in the wonderful, restorative sea air. It felt amazing to be away and we came home energized and excited about healing and moving forward after a rough year. It was our 40th wedding anniversary also, so we are truly thankful that Chris and Laura generously gave us this wonderful gift.

They know what illness does and decided to offer something truly special . We wish them continued good health and blessings.
